Tattered Floral Challenge

Hi all!  Happy first day of Spring!  I can't believe this is my first post in March!  I've been quite busy in the yard, trimming and mulching before the heat becomes unbearable.  But I knew I had to jump in the craft room for Tim Holtz's Tattered Floral Challenge.  There are so many amazing entries!

I decided to make a bracelet cuff.  I cut a strip from Tim's swirly grungeboard and rounded the edges.  I used the Tattered Floral die to cut some plain grungeboard, then embossed it with Tim's Retro Circles embossing folder.  I painted the flower with Sunshine Yellow Paint Dabber, sanded the raised part and inked it with Wild Honey Distress Ink.  The metal flower is Tim's and the center brad I colored with Cranberry Alcohol Ink.  The band was painted with Willow Paint Dabber, then sanded and inked with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink.  I used a Hitch Fastener as a closure (those were recently brought out of retirement, yeah!).

Tim's challenge ends this Friday, so there's still time to enter!

12 Tags of 2013 - February

Hello!  I'm back again with my tag for Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of 2013!  Tim did a tag for Valentine's Day, but because I'm always bringing up the rear with my monthly tags, I've skipped ahead to Easter. (Thank you Easter Bunny, bawk, bawk!).

This is Tim's tag

and this is mine (it's a truer green IRL)

February Calendar Journal

Hello all!  I just got my February pages finished up and wanted to share them before we move on to March!  I love all the layers I've created, so many inks and stamps!  I used Tim Holtz's Movers and Shapers hearts to cut out book text for the days.  I also used Tim's WordPlay die for 'February', then smudged around it with my black Pitt Big Brush Pen.  The arrows were created with Wendy Vecchi's Embossing Paste through a Crafter's Workshop stencil.  I love how they're translucent and you can see the stamping below.  I also used a lot of Christy Tomlinson's stamps.

I'm entering these into the following challenges:
Stampotique Designers Challenge:  SDC88  Use text
Simon Says Stamp:  Use an Arrow
Kate Crane's Calendar Challenge:  February

SDC 87: Winter Whites

Hello all!  The theme for this week's Stampotique Designers Challenge is Winter Whites.  It was a challenge indeed, as I love color.  I rather like it though.  It's simple and clean and fresh.

I'm also entering this into:
Simon Says Stamp Challenge, White on White
Unruly PaperArts, Carte Blanche

The canvas is 3" x 3" and painted with Antique White craft paint.  The butterflies are from Studio Calico, stamped with a Unity stamp and white ink.  I painted the flower petals with my white Uniball Signo and went around the canvas edges with white paint.  The flower stamp is from Stampotique.

SDC86: Who's Your Kitty?

Oh my goodness!  I feel like I've been gone forever!  My muse has been most uncooperative as of late, but I'm so glad I was able to create something this past weekend.  And it feels good (Tony Toni Tone, anyone?).

This week over on the Stampotique Designers Challenge the theme is Red, Pink and White.  I've altered a paper mache heart.  I just love this little kitty.  (ok, all kitties :))

I'm also entering this into Simon Says Stamp's challenge, Have a Heart.

I hope to be back soon with more creations!

12 Tags of 2013 - January

Hello all!  The fabulous Tim Holtz is challenging us again this year with the Twelve Tags of 2013.  And per my m.o., I am getting mine in just under the wire.  I pretty much followed Tim's instructions because I really like his tag.  I didn't have the saying stamp, so I used another one of his.

I can't believe tomorrow will be February!  I've been working on my calendar page for Kate Crane's challenge, and will post it in the next few days.

Thanks for stopping by!  I appreciate your comments :)

Happy New Year!

So I've been bitten by the art journaling bug.  Side effects appear to be an endless appetite for all kinds of journals and a craving to color like a kid again.

I'm not sure where I first came across Kate Crane's blog, The Kathryn Wheel, but she started a monthly calendar journal challenge last year (I think it was last year)...you can read about it here.  And with the new year, I thought this would be a great time to try a new 'media'.  It was a lot of fun to create, and am looking forward to next month!

I'm entering my pages into the following challenges:

Stampotique's Designer Challenge #81: Journal Cover or Page, Diary or Calendar Page

Simon Says Stamp:  New Something  (I used new paints, markers and stamps).

Thanks for stopping by!  I appreciate your comments :)
